Important Issues in the Feminism

Feminism is the belief that women should have equal rights with men. This includes the right to earn a fair wage, to live in safe communities, to have access to health care and to have legal representation.

But for many people, the idea of feminism makes them uncomfortable. They feel that feminists want to overturn time-honored traditions, religious beliefs and established gender roles. They fear that feminism will mean that men will eventually lose out.

However, the suffrage movement also suffered from persistent racism that sidelined women of color. Even after the 19th Amendment was passed, Black women were still barred from voting through things like literacy tests and property requirements

The feminism movement in the United States
